Lionel Messi is reportedly considering an astonishing move back to FC Barcelona when his contract with Inter Miami expires.
The 36-year-old Argentine signed a two-year deal with Miami, which runs down in the upcoming summer.
Despite being expected to sign a new deal with the American hotshots, the rumours of a possible return to Barcelona have resurfaced the internet once again, after strong claims from Alex Candal.
Candal, who was one of the first people to report Messi's move to Inter Miami in 2022, now claims that Messi is returning to the Catalan giants for the final chapter of his illustrious career.
As per SportsKeeda, the Venezuelan commentator has said, “Who was the first to say Messi was joining Inter Miami? Me... or not? And now I'm telling you, he's coming back to Barcelona.”.
Messi's homecoming still remains a distant dream
While the fans would be thrilled to hear about the possibility of a return for their greatest player ever, the move surely appears to be very difficult considering Messi’s high wages and Barcelona’s financial condition.
On top of that, the Argentine captain’s relationship with FC Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta, is reportedly quite “fragile,” with the superstar winger reported to be "disappointed" with the way the club is operating under the Spaniard.
According to Onefootball, Lionel Messi has informed his close sources that while he would “love” a move back to Barça, he wouldn't consider doing it while Joan Laporta is the president of the club.
