Bayern Munich sealed the first leg of their tie with Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 16 of the Champions League in an emphatic manner, thrashing Xabi Alonso’s side by a scoreline of 3-0.

Alonso’s pragmatic approach against the hosts failed, which allowed Bayern to outperform Leverkusen with their high intensity right from the beginning.

The Bavarians were threatening from the first minute of the game itself and ended up scoring an early goal to assert their dominance.

Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 9th minute of the game, smashing in a powerful header from Olise’s brilliant cross.

The Bavarians kept rotating the ball and kept possession comfortably.

It wasn’t long before Bayern added their second goal, with Jamal Musiala pouncing on Matej Kovár's huge error to put the hosts in a comfortable position.

Leverkusen's fate in the first leg appeared to be sealed when Nordi Mukiele received a second yellow card in the 62nd minute, putting the visitors down to ten men.

The visitors were pushed back deep and choked completely, leading to Tapsoba fouling Harry Kane in the box, leading to a penalty kick that was calmly converted by the England captain.

As per Goal, Bayern registered an xG of 2.98, while Leverkusen were restricted to an xG of just 0.33, which clearly showcases the difference between the two sides last night.

King Kane at it again for Bayern Munich

Harry Kane is leading the title charge for Bayern Munich from the front in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

The 32-year-old scored a stellar brace last night to guide the Bavarian giants one step closer to the prestigious UCL trophy.

Kane has formed a formidable partnership in the attack with Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise, who've been sensational themselves as well.

The Bavarians have a tough road to the final, which will be played at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

The Englishman would be dreaming of lifting the biggest trophy in club football and his first trophy ever in club football in front of his home crowd.
