FC Barcelona's star boy, Lamine Yamal, broke a long-standing all-time record, which was previously held by the legend himself, Lionel Messi. He achieved this amazing feat on Sunday as Barça beat Deportivo Alaves in La Liga.
Barcelona’s star player once again played a crucial role in bagging three important points for the Catalan giants.
It was a must-win game for Barça to get back in the title race, with table toppers Real Madrid dropping points against a familiar foe, Espanyol.
As per OptaJose, Yamal completed the most number of dribbles in a single La Liga game by completing 11 dribbles, a record which was previously held by the 8-time Ballon d'Or winner, who completed 10 dribbles out of the 20 attempted in a match during against Mallorca in 2007.
There was a sequence of play during the game where Yamal dribbled past 5 Alaves players at once. It seemed as if time had stopped for the 17-year-old.
The Culers were awestruck as they received flashbacks of their G.O.A.T. in Yamal. The teenage European champion is statistically one of the best dribblers in Europe right now despite his young age.
Lamine Yamal has revived the flair in football
Many fans and pundits have accused the new generation of footballers of losing flair. When the millennials talk about wingers of their times, they talk about the trademark skill moves of a player. Such was the style of the game back then.
Football has seen a steady decline in the number of players with flair in recent years. Wingers seemed to have succumbed to the complex tactical systems of the coaches, making them more direct and tactically aligned.
However, the arrival of players like Yamal has given hope to these fans again. The 17-year-old has rekindled the flair and tricks with the ball, giving some of the fans what they want to.

Lamine Yamal's importance to Barca has also been growing with each and every game. FC Barcelona have dropped points in all the games he hasn't featured in for them this season in La Liga.
On top of that, he has currently provided the most number of assists in La Liga this season., further signifying his importance to Hansi Flick and his team.
