Bayern Munich's teenager, Mathys Tel, has made a dramatic U-turn and has decided to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan, just days after rejecting their initial offer.

The 19-year-old was heavily linked to Manchester United, with many reports claiming that the Red Devils are on the verge of signing him. However, Tel decided to pull out of the deal at the last moment.

Previously, Spurs had bid £50m for Tel, which was accepted by the Bavarian giants but rejected by the teenager.

However, Tel finds a 6-month loan move to Tottenham “quite lucrative” and has therefore decided to join them on the final day of the winter transfer window.

“Believe in second chances”: Tottenham breathe a sigh of relief

Tottenham fans had thought that the Mathys Tel deal was off when they saw their club being rejected by the young striker. However, fate had different plans for them, as this transfer seemed destined to happen.

The Coys are finally set to unveil Tel within the next two days, with the striker expected to fly out to London today itself for his medical, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Ange Postecoglou had urged the club’s board to provide replacements for his injured players, as they continue to struggle hard this season.

Therefore, Tel’s deal will be a massive boost for Big Ange in his hope of reviving his team for the remaining part of the season.

How will Mathys Tel's loan deal help Big Ange?

Tottenham have struggled to get going this season due to their consistent injuries. Having struggles in front of the goal as well, an attacking reinforcement will surely provide some relief to Postecoglou.

The 19-year-old will definitely bolster the Spurs' attack and provide more options up front.

Tel’s versatility will also be very beneficial for the Australian manager, as he will have the option of deploying the French striker on the left-flank as well, along with his natural no. 9 position.

Tottenham Hotspur will face Liverpool next in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, following a win against Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday.

Spurs will head into the second leg with a one-goal advantage and will be hoping to get through the mighty Reds in order to keep their dream of winning a trophy alive.
