The RFEF confirmed that the postponed La Liga fixture between FC Barcelona and Osasuna will take place on 27th March, which is just a day after the international break ends.
The match was supposed to be played on 8th March, but the sudden passing away of Barça’s club doctor, Carles Minarro Garcia, forced the game to be suspended until further notice.
Both the clubs have appealed against the rescheduled date, as it is felt that the Spanish federation has been "very inconsiderate" of the players and their wellness.
If the game is not rescheduled once again, Osasuna will have to play against Athletic Bilbao just twenty-four hours after playing against the Catalan giants, while Hansi Flick's men will have to line up against Girona just forty-eight hours after the rescheduled Osasuna clash.
“Players are humans, not robots”: Barcelona and Osasuna express their frustration over the rescheduled fixture
FC Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, found out about the updated date of the fixture while conducting a training session with the squad’s reserves, while the majority of the first team players have headed to their respective national teams camps for the international break.
The Catalan club’s camp was furious after getting to know that there is a game to be played just a day after the international break ends.
Barça's key players Raphinha and Ronald Araujo will be with their national teams, respectively, forcing the La Liga leaders to be without their star players for the crucial clash in the title race.
Several young players of the squad will be with the Spanish U-21 team as well, further decreasing the depth in the squad.
This rescheduled date is even more surprising for Osasuna, who will have to play Athletic Bilbao away from home just twenty-four hours after playing Barcelona away from home.
The Osasuna camp will be further exhausted from travelling, which increases the risk of major injuries to the players dramatically.
