Heading into gameweek 22 of the FPL, the managers will be hoping for a high-scoring gameweek. The average points in gameweek 21 were a decent 55, while the highest score was a staggering 148.
The Run Of Play’s Best XI for GW 21 scored 105 points, with our top captaincy pick, Alexander Isak, registering a 16-point haul. Our best XI outscored the official FPL scout team by 33 points.
Here is our best XI for gameweek 22 of FPL:
Matz Sels - £5.0m - GK - Nottingham Forest - vs Southampton (H)
Matz Sels, the highest-scoring goalkeeper this season, has a very high chance of producing yet another haul as Nottingham Forest take on the struggling Southampton. With 9 clean sheets, Selz and Forest have the best defensive record in the league this season, while Southampton have the worst attack in the league this season, scoring only 13 goals so far.
Antonee Robinson - £5.0m - DEF - Fulham - vs Leicester City (A)
Providing 2 assists in his previous match against West Ham, Robinson further increased his record of being the defender with the most assists in the league this season and as the top-scoring defender in the game. Going up against a struggling Leicester side, Robinson has a great chance of producing returns at both ends of the pitch.
Ola Aina - £5.3m - DEF - Nottingham Forest - vs Southampton (H)
Aina’s attacking threat, combined with Nottingham Forest’s rock-solid defence, makes him a must-have defender this season. Averaging 4.6 points per match this season, Aina has been a standout pick. Going up against a vulnerable Southampton side, a big haul seems quite likely for the Nigerian full-back.
Lewis Hall - £5.0 - DEF - Newcastle United - vs Bournemouth (H)
Lewis Hall is currently one of the most in-form players in the game, averaging 6.6 points per match since GW 17. The Newcastle full-back has blanked only once in his last 5 matches and possesses the ability to produce returns at both ends of the pitch. With Newcastle's impressive home record, Hall could produce another haul.
Josko Gvardiol - £6.0m - DEF - Manchester City - vs Ipswich Town (A)
Even though the reigning Premier League champions have suffered defensively, Gvardiol’s numbers have still been up to the mark due to his incredible attacking threat.
According to the data provided by Official FPL, Gvardiol has 6 shots inside the box across the last 6 gameweeks, which is the most among defenders in the game, indicating the possibility of another attacking return from the Croatian.
Mohamed Salah (VC) - £13.7m - MID - Liverpool - vs Brentford (A)
Having blanked in his previous game against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool’s Egyptian king would be looking to bounce back strongly. Being the top scorer in the game this season and having blanked only twice in 21 gameweeks, Salah still remains an absolute no-brainer of a pick.
In the reverse fixture against Brentford, Salah produced a 10-point haul. However, Brentford at home look like a different team altogether, who could potentially opt for multiple measures to try and stop the best player in the world currently.
Jacob Murphy - £5.1m - MID - Newcastle United - vs Bournemouth (H)
Priced at just £5.1m, Jacob Murphy is our top differential pick of GW 22. Having produced 3 goals and 5 assists in his last 8 games, scoring a total of 52 points, Murphy has definitely been going under the radar.
With a majority of managers opting for his teammates, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, Murphy is currently owned by just 5.4% of the managers. With a form of 6.0, Murphy can potentially produce a huge haul, whose benefits can only be reaped by those willing to play risky.
Amad Diallo - £5.5m - MID - Manchester United - vs Brighton & Hove Albion (H)
Man United’s young star has been the top differential pick of the season, producing his biggest ever haul in the game 2 days ago. With a hat-trick against Southampton in GW 21, Diallo has now registered a G/A of 13 in just 14 starts. Being one of the most in-form players in the game currently, Amad Diallo is the 2nd most transferred-in player before the beginning of GW 22.
Harry Wilson - £5.2m - MID - Fulham - vs Leicester City (A)
Harry Wilson is another big differential in gameweek 22. Fulham take on Leicester City, who currently have the 2nd worst defensive record in the league this season. With 6 goal involvements in just 6 starts, Harry Wilson is a great, and potentially a better pick from the Fulham team than his popular teammate, Raul Jimenez.
Chris Wood - £6.4m - FWD - Nottingham Forest - vs Southampton (H)
The Run Of Play has decided to go all-in on Nottingham Forest as they face Southampton in the upcoming gameweek. A triple up on Forest, with our third pick being the best of them all. Chris Wood is experiencing a historical and his best-ever campaign in his illustrious career in the Premier League.
With 13 goals and 1 assist, Wood has scored an emphatic 123 points this season, averaging 5.9 points per match. With his goal against Liverpool in GW 21, Wood surpassed Erling Haaland’s points tally to become the top-scoring forward this season.
Alexander Isak (C) - £9.4M - FWD - Newcastle United - vs Bournemouth (A)
Alexander Isak is once again our top captaincy pick, after scoring a huge 16-point haul in the previous gameweek. The Swedish striker is currently the joint-most in-form player in the game, with a form of 11.0 points per match.
He is also averaging 7.1 points per match this season, with 15 goals and 5 assists in 19 starts. Isak has scored consecutively in 9 games and is chasing Jamie Vardy’s record of 11. With a favourable home fixture and a huge milestone in sight, we believe an Isak haul is almost guaranteed.
