FPL Gameweek 25: The Run Of Play's Best XI

The Fantasy Premier League is heading into its 25th gameweek, which also happens to be the second double gameweek of the current season's game of FPL.

Liverpool’s clash with Aston Villa was rescheduled for 20th February, leading to a second double gameweek in a row for the Premier League leaders. 

Here is our best XI for gameweek 25 of FPL:

Kepa Arrizabalaga - £4.5m - GK - Bournemouth - vs. Southampton (A)

Bournemouth’s clash against Southampton provides another great opportunity for the Cherries to maintain a clean sheet, as the Saints have the worst attacking record in the league this season. 

Trent Alexander-Arnold - £7.3m - DEF - Liverpool - vs. Wolves (H), Aston Villa (A)

Having missed the previous two matches, Alexander-Arnold did feature for the final 30 minutes of the derby against Everton. Being declared fit along with the upcoming double gameweek, Trent remains a must-have pick amongst the defenders in the game. 

Lucas Digne - £4.6m - DEF - Aston Villa - vs. Ipswich Town (H), Liverpool (H)

Lucas Digne’s performance this season has been subpar, having provided just 4 assists and kept 2 clean sheets. However, with two home games lined up in a single GW, Villa’s advanced full-back has the opportunity to deliver his biggest ever haul in the game.

Milos Kerkez - £5.0m - DEF - Bournemouth - vs. Southampton (A)

Southampton's vulnerability offers Kerkez an opportunity to provide returns at both ends of the pitch. With 2 goals and 3 assists along with 6 clean sheets, the Cherries' full-back is one of the highest-scoring defenders in the game this season.

Gabriel - £6.3m - DEF - Arsenal - vs. Leicester City (H) 

Gabriel's aerial threat makes him one of the most valuable defenders in the game, with the Brazilian scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists so far this season. Leicester City’s weak attack, along with their vulnerability to set pieces, offers a great opportunity for Arsenal’s top-scoring defender to provide returns at both ends of the pitch.

Mohamed Salah (c) - £13.7m - MID - Liverpool - vs. Wolves (H), Aston Villa (A)

Mo Salah delivered another tremendous performance in Liverpool’s double gameweek in the previous week, recording a staggering 29 points, with double-digit hauls in both games. With another double gameweek coming up, the captain's armband yet again goes to the best player in the game this season. 

Morgan Rogers - £5.6m - MID - Aston Villa - vs. Ipswich Town (H), Liverpool (H)

Morgan Rogers’s first season at Villa has been a memorable one, with the debutant registering 6 goals and 5 assists in 23 starts. A double gameweek provides him with the opportunity to record his biggest ever haul in the game. 

Bryan Mbeumo - £7.9m - MID - Brentford - vs. West Ham United (A)

Averaging 6.2 points per game this season, Brentford’s sharpshooter is witnessing his best ever season in the Premier League, with 14 goals and 3 assists in just 24 starts. A trip to West Ham increases his chances of producing another big haul, with the Hammers’ defence appearing quite disorganized lately.

Luis Diaz -  £7.5m - MID - Liverpool - vs. Wolves (H), Aston Villa (A)

Averaging 4.7 points per match this season, Diaz has been one of the most impactful players in Liverpool’s new system under Arne Slot, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists in just 18 starts. A double GW offers a chance for Diaz to revive his lacklustre form recently. With Cody Gakpo’s injury, it seems almost guaranteed that Diaz will start both the games for Liverpool in this GW.

While Fulham’s rigid defence does pose a tough challenge for Nottingham Forest’s attack, Chris Wood possesses the ability to cause all sorts of problems for the Fulham defence, considering the devastating form he has been in this season. Having scored a hat trick in his previous game, Wood is currently averaging 10.3 points per match in his last 5 matches, making him one of the most in-form players in the game.

Ollie Watkins (vc) -  £8.9m - FWD - Aston Villa - vs. Ipswich Town (H), Liverpool (H)

Having scored 3 goals in his last 6 games, Ollie Watkins enters into Villa’s first double gameweek in decent form, averaging 5.5 points per game in his last 5. Being one of the most prolific strikers in the game, Watkins is tipped to produce a big haul this gameweek, with two back-to-back home games coming up for Aston Villa and him.
