The FPL has reached its final 9 gameweeks as we approach the final two months of yet another iconic season.

The managers will be experiencing the first major blank gameweek in this season’s FPL with Liverpool, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Crystal Palace, all having no matches scheduled for them in GW 29.

As a result, the managers would be tempted to use the free hit chip, which allows them to make unlimited transfers for just a single gameweek.

Here's our best XI for GW 29 of FPL:

José Sá - £4.3m - GK - Wolves - vs Southampton (A)

The Wolves No. 1 has managed to keep 5 clean sheets despite his team's defensive vulnerabilities this season, while also making 56 saves. As Wolves take on Southampton, who sit at the bottom of the points table while having the worst attack in the league this season, Sá has an excellent chance of keeping his sixth clean sheet of the current campaign.

Marc Cucurella -  £5.2m - DEF - Chelsea - vs Arsenal (A)

Despite Chelsea having a tough away fixture against their London rivals, Arsenal, Cucurella stands out as one of the top picks for GW 29, coming on the back of two back-to-back 15-point hauls in his last two games, all thanks to his even more advanced role on the left flank.

Rayan Aït-Nouri - £4.8m - DEF - Wolves - vs Southampton (A)

Southampton’s attacking and defensive woes offer a favourable fixture to Wolves’ prolific wing-back to deliver returns to his backers at both ends of the pitch. On top of his 5 clean sheets, the Algerian has also registered a G/A of 8, which is amongst the highest by defenders in the game this season.

Ola Aina - £5.4m - DEF - Nottingham Forest - vs Ipswich Town (A)

Averaging 4.3 points per match this season, Aina has stood out as one of the best picks amongst defenders once again ahead of a favourable fixture against Ipswich. The Nigerian’s 2 goals and 1 assist, along with Forest’s 12 clean sheets, have resulted in him being the second highest-scoring defender this season with a staggering 121 points in 28 starts.

Bruno Fernandes (c) - £8.5m - MID - Manchester United - vs Leicester City (A)

Despite United’s horrendous season so far, the Portuguese maestro has still managed to carve out a memorable individual campaign, scoring 7 goals and providing 9 assists in 27 starts, averaging 5.0 points per game this season. Fernandes is also coming on the back of a combined 29 points in his last 3 matches, making him our top pick for the captain’s armband this gameweek.

Bryan Mbeumo (vc) - £8.1m - MID - Brentford - vs Bournemouth (A)

The Brentford sharpshooter has crawled up to become the 3rd highest-scoring player in the game this season with his consistent performances, in what has already been his best ever campaign in the Premier League, with G/A of 20 in just 28 starts.

Callum Hudson-Odoi - £5.2m - MID - Nottingham Forest - vs Ipswich Town

Averaging 5.5 points per game in his last 5, including a 10-point haul against Manchester City in his last, Hudson-Odoi offers a great opportunity to the managers to enjoy another strong return from him as Forest take on a struggling Ipswich side.

Justin Kluivert - £6.2m - MID - Bournemouth - vs Brentford (H)

Justin Kluivert’s consistent performance since GW 21 has made him a popular pick in the game, with an ownership of 36.0%, while averaging 5.4 points per match, scoring 12 goals, and providing 6 assists in just 23 starts this season.

Chris Wood -  £7.3m - FWD - Nottingham Forest vs Ipswich Town (A)

The highest-scoring forward in the game will be aiming for yet another haul in what has been an absolutely sensational season for him. Ipswich’s defensive struggles provide Wood with a wonderful opportunity to further extend his goal-scoring tally, as he remains just two shy of hitting the 20th goal mark in the Premier League for the first time ever in his career.

Erling Haaland - £14.7m - FWD - Manchester City - vs Brighton (H)

Erling Haaland has still managed to challenge for the Premier League golden boot, scoring 20 goals in 27 starts, despite Manchester City’s disappointing campaign. Up against Brighton, Haaland will surely have a difficult task ahead of him, but the Norwegian still stands out as one of the top picks for GW 29.

Joao Pedro - £5.6m - FWD - Brighton - vs Manchester City (A)

Up against Manchester City’s vulnerable defence, Fabian Hürzeler’s attack, led by the prolific Joao Pedro, would be looking to extend their brilliant form in front of the goal, scoring 11 goals in their last 4 games. During this period, Pedro has scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist, averaging 7.5 points per game in his last 5 matches.
