Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s spell at Napoli is about to come to an end, with the Georgian set to embark upon a new journey. Napoli’s manager, Antonio Conte, in a recent press conference, confirmed that Kvaratskheilia has asked to be sold immediately, with PSG already closing in on a deal.

While speaking in the pre-match conference for the Verona clash on Saturday, Conte spoke about Kvara, putting an end to the speculations regarding his future. According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, Conte said, “On Kvara... he asked the club to be sold, without mincing words. This is what was told to me, the player confirmed his decision to me.” He further added, “On my part there is great disappointment, I take things head on and I too have not been so incisive in convincing the two parties to move forward. Today I have to take a step back, I cannot keep in chains those who today do not want to stay..”(sic)

Why is Kvaratskhelia leaving?

Speculations regarding Kvaratskhelia’ future at Napoli had begun since last summer, which also marked the arrival of Antonio Conte. While Conte expressed his desire of trying to work things out with the star winger, the plan clearly did not work out. Conte confirmed this by saying, “Personally I feel very disappointed because I spent 6 months trying to make Kvara feel at the center, working with him, showing him that something important could be done here and also working with the club for the renewal that today after 6 months we are at the starting point. At the beginning.”(sic)

Interest from top clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool seems to have caught the Georgian’s attention, possibly luring him to try a new adventure in his career while still being at a young age. Apart from this, the departure of his attacking partner Victor Osimhen, who is excelling at Galatasaray, could have also prompted Kvara to explore the option of moving away from Naples.

PSG lead the race to sign Kvara

Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race to sign Kvaratskhelia, with the French giants set to beat Liverpool. According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG have offered a five-year deal to the 23-year-old, offering him a salary that is expected to be 4/5 times his current salary at Napoli. The club and Kvara have also agreed on all personal terms. Romano has also revealed that Napoli want a deal worth around €80m, with PSG also offering Milan Skriniar as a part of the deal. The representatives of both the clubs are expected to meet next week to finalize the deal.
