In the new episode of the Dani Olmo registration controversy, La Liga chief, Javier Tebas, has made a move to cancel the Barcelona midfielder’s registration.
FC Barcelona were allowed to register Olmo and Pau Victor temporarily by the Consejo Superior de Deportes.
This decision allowed the Catalan giants to feature the duo against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.
However, according to recent reports, Tebas is determined to get the European champion, Dani Olmo’s name removed from the registration charts.
Tebas has been against the registration of these players since the beginning of this saga
Barca president Joan Laporta claimed that the club achieved the 1:1 FFP status.
However, the La Liga board does not agree with the 27-time league winners., and as a result, is preventing the registration of their players.
Tebas and co. are furious at CSD’s involvement in their business with Barcelona
The La Liga president has grown frustrated at CSD’s involvement in the Dani Olmo case. He believes that the league has its own set of guidelines regarding Financial Fair Play, where any outside party shouldn't poke their nose.
He expressed that Barcelona shouldn't have been allowed to register Olmo. He mentioned that this felt as an “injustice” to the remaining clubs complying with FFP rules in the league.
Tebas also bashed the CSD and alleged that their board isn't aware of the rules and regulations of the league.
Both parties will now wait for the final verdict set to be announced on 7th April, 2025.
If the verdict gives their decision against Barca, Pau Victor and Olmo might be forced to terminate their respective contracts, and leave the club as free agents in the transfer window.
More Barcelona update: Joan Laporta provides positive news regarding Gavi
Amidst the chaos of Olmo’s and Pau Victor’s registrations, president Laporta has provided a crucial injury update regarding their star player, Gavi. The 20-year-old was taken to the hospital after a head injury to avoid concussion during Barca’s clash with Deportivo Alaves yesterday.
Alaves’ midfielder, Tomas Conechny, also had to be taken to the hospital following the collision.
According to a Barca spokesperson, both Tomas and Gavi are fine and haven’t sustained any serious injuries.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo regarding Gavi’s situation, he said; “He’s fine, I just spoke to him. It was a very hard blow, he wanted to keep playing, he told me so.”
He further added, “Gavi’s sub was the doctor’s decision, it must be respected, although he always wants to play. We have to take care of him.”
