Liverpool are planning to sign a new midfielder in the upcoming transfer window, with Barcelona's star midfielder reported to their top target.
Arne Slot has urged the management to sign a midfielder to increase depth and quality in the middle of the park.
Having failed to sign their top target Martin Zubimendi last summer, Liverpool are still planning on signing a new midfielder, despite Ryan Gravenberch’s stellar performance this season.
As per Barça Universal, FC Barcelona's midfield maestro, Frenkie De Jong, has caught the Reds' attention as their quest for signing a new midfielder begins.
According to CaughtOffside, De Jong could be available for around €35 million as Barça are reportedly prepared to part ways with him. However, his high wages could turn out to be a problem for the Merseyside giants.
Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the 23-year-old Bundesliga star
As per reports that have surfaced the internet, Liverpool have also found an alternative for De Jong, with VfB Stuttgart midfielder, Angello Stiller, also being monitored by the club.
The 23-year-old has produced stellar performances for his team in the Bundesliga as well as in the Champions League.
His consistent performances have led to him being termed as one of the best holding midfielders in Germany currently.
As per reports, Stiller has a £33 million release clause in his contract, which gives the Reds' a lot of confidence. However, they are expected to face stiff competition from FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, who are reported to be strongly interested in signing the German midfielder.
Liverpool are also reportedly targeting several options for the full-back position, with Milos Kerkez and Jorel Hato on their tabs currently, to try and replace the struggling veteran, Andrew Robertson.
Following a dull transfer window last season where they could only sign four players, Liverpool are keen on landing several players in the upcoming summer transfer window.
