Paris Saint-Germain thrashed Aston Villa at the Parc des Princes last night to win the first leg and secure a 3-1 lead in their quarter-final tie against Unai Emery’s men in the UEFA Champions League.

Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nuno Mendes managed to crush the Villa backline with electric performances and helped their side to clinch one step closer towards the Champions League glory with their difference-making goals.

Heading into the second leg, Luis Enrique’s men will be having a two-goal advantage, which, at the moment, seems enough to send PSG to only their second-ever semi-final qualification in the UCL.

PSG vs Aston Villa: As it Happened

From the very first minute, the visitors made every effort possible to try and take on the driver’s seat in last night’s clash with Villa’s man-in-form, Morgan Rogers, opening the scoreline in the 35th minute to give his side a well-deserved lead.

However, the travelling fans’ joy was cut short as Paris’ teenage sensation, Desire Doue, scored an astonishing right-footed curler from outside of the box to pull things level for PSG just 4 minutes after Rogers’ opener.

Aston Villa did not manage to find a suitable reply as the hosts did to their goal and soon dealt with another blow just a few minutes after the beginning of the second half, with new signing Kvaratskhelia scoring a sensational solo goal to give PSG the lead in the tie.

Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue’s combination troubled Aston Villa, where the latter was drifting freely in front of the Villa backline, making them disoriented, while the Georgian winger was toying with Matty Cash on the left flank, making life miserable for the Englishman.

During the dying embers of the game, the French giants hammered the final nail in Villa’s coffin as full-back Nuno Mendes scored the third and the final goal of the night to give PSG a two-goal advantage over Aston Villa, which also could have already secured the tie for the French giants.
