Napoli have begun their search for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's replacement, who has informed the club that he wants to leave the club with immediate effect. Napoli’s manager, Antonio Conté, informed the press about Kvaratskhelia’s decision, clearing the doubts and speculations regarding the star player's future.
While the Georgian’s decision had come as a surprise to Conté, it seemed inevitable. Kvaratshkelia will leave Napoli after almost 3 years, with PSG and Liverpool planning a possible move. Napoli are preparing to move on immediately by searching for a replacement. They reportedly have their eyes set on Manchester United's talented star.
Alejandro Garnacho has been identified as the ‘perfect’ replacement by Napoli
According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli have identified Alejandro Garnacho as an ideal replacement for Kvaratskhelia. The Gli Azzuri have already held talks with Manchester United. Garnacho, 20, seems to have fallen through the ranks since the arrival of Ruben Amorim. The Puskas Award winner has only been handed 5 starts in 14 games by the new manager. Garnacho was even dropped from the squad for the Man City clash, reportedly due to disciplinary issues.
The latest news from David Ornstein at The Athletic indicates that while United are not actively looking to sell the Argentine, they would 'seriously' consider selling Garnacho if a good offer is on the table. The club's majority stake owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is planning on redeveloping and strengthening the squad for the next season. Therefore, United could plan to sell their young star at a high price in order to get funds for their future plans.
According to several reports, Napoli were planning to make a bid of €50m. However, as per the latest updates by Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United’s valuation of their talent is significantly higher, in the range of €70m-€75m. While the interest continues to persist, the high valuation could cause Napoli to rethink their decision.
