Pep Guardiola has expressed his disappointment towards the Manchester United fans for their insensitivity and offensive chants directed towards Manchester City’s star player, Phil Foden.

Foden, who has been having a tough season in the current campaign, faced backlash and mockery from rival fans, who ended up uttering abusive chants directed at his mother, showcasing acts that have no place at all in the game.

Defending his star midfielder, the Manchester City boss took an initiative to silence the haters once and for all and lashed out at the section of supporters after the derby at Old Trafford on Sunday, accusing them of being “inferior” in terms of standards and integrity.

“It’s not United”: Pep Guardiola calls out the entire footballing community for the Foden chants

Pep Guardiola took the spotlight in yesterday’s post-match press conference after the derby. Speaking on the Phil Foden incident, Guardiola said, “Lack of class, but it’s not United; it’s the people, you know? We are so exposed – people who are on the screen in world football – managers, owners, and football players especially.” (sic)

The statement sums up Guardiola’s thoughts towards the section of United fans, with the 54-year-old tactician believing that these things should not be tolerated in football or any other sports, and rightly so.

Further shedding light on the incident, he added, “Honestly, I don’t understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil. It’s a lack of integrity and class, and they should be ashamed.” (sic)

According to Revsportz, Phil Foden’s mother was arrested last year due to inappropriate behaviour on a night out while being drunk, which eventually became an incident of mockery for the rival fans to target the player, as he also had some local connections.
