Real Madrid defeated Manchester City last night at the Santiago Bernabeu by a scoreline of 3-1, winning the tie by an aggregate of 6-3 to secure a place in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Kylian Mbappé’s sensational performance could not be handled by the visitors as the Frenchman went on to score a sensational hat trick to seal the game and the tie for the Los Blancos.

Manchester City have been knocked out before reaching the Round of 16 of the Champions League for the first time since Pep Guardiola’s arrival, who also suffered his first-ever exit in the initial stages of the competition.

Manchester City could not handle Real Madrid led by the on-fire Kylian Mbappé

Kylian Mbappé grabbed all the headlines from last night's crucial clash as he gave the perfect start to his team with an incredible lob over Ederson in only the 4th minute of the game.

The brilliant goal set the tempo for the game as City quickly had their backs against the wall following the early goal.

The 26-year-old produced another moment of magic soon, flooring Josko Gvardiol to score Madrid’s and his second goal of the night.

The Frenchman put the final nail in Manchester City’s coffin by completing his hat trick in the 61st minute by scoring a world-class goal, which arguably was the best one of his treble.

Kylian Mbappé’s 3 goals came from the centre, left, and right-hand sides of the pitch, which showcased his dynamic movements and runs throughout the game.

Mbappé’s free role allowed him to position himself throughout the pitch, which made it extremely difficult for the City defenders to mark and get a hold of him.

Manchester City showing no signs of improvement

Despite spending heavily in the winter transfer window, Manchester City’s situation has not seemed to improve as they continue to experience new lows this season.

While new signings Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez have impressed the fans with their performances so far, City’s overall gameplay has not improved at all.

With an impressive win against Newcastle United on Saturday, many believed that City might be able to complete a turnaround against the mighty Real Madrid.

However, the fans witnessed a similar tale that they have been witnessing the entire season, where their team produces one strong win, followed by a devastating loss.
