Former Real Madrid and Spain captain, Sergio Ramos, is set to make a comeback to the beautiful game as he has signed a pre-agreement to join Rayados de Monterrey.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Ramos has agreed to join the Mexican club by agreeing on all the terms and will fly out to Mexico in the coming days to sign all the contracts.
The 38-year-old centre-back will begin a new chapter in the Mexican League, which will most likely be the final one in his illustrious career.
Why has Sergio Ramos not been playing?
After leaving Sevilla back in September 2023, Sergio Ramos has been a free agent for almost 1.5 years now, with the Spaniard repeatedly looking for a club since then.
As reported by OneFootball, the Spanish maestro has been linked to multiple clubs during his time away from the game, which included Boca Juniors and even the club of his life, Real Madrid, where he achieved the status of being one of the best defenders of all time.
While the links for a possible move back to Madrid did excite the fans a lot, it seemed quite unrealistic, and as a result, turned out to be nothing but just rumours.
A magical career worth a lifetime
Sergio Ramos’ return surely brings back fond memories of his prime when he used to dominate the world of football.
Coming through the academy of Sevilla, the most pivotal move of the Spaniard’s career was signing up for Real Madrid back in 2005, which would result in Ramos touching heights that no defender ever could before.

During his magical years with the Los Blancos, Sergio Ramos won almost everything possible, winning a staggering 22 trophies in 16 years with the club.
His astonishing trophy collection with Madrid includes 5 La Liga titles, 4 Champions League titles, 3 Super Cup titles, 4 Club World Cup titles, 2 Copa del Rey titles, and 4 Supercopa de España titles.
