Inter Miami faced LAFC on Wednesday in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-final and managed to beat their rivals by a scoreline of 3-1, securing qualification into the semi-finals with an aggregate score of 3-2.

In the dying moments of the game, chaos unfolded between the two sides following a rash challenge on Miami's captain, Lionel Messi. Marlon Santos was shown a yellow for the rash challenge, while Luis Suárez and Jordi Alba appeared to get involved in a scuffle with a few LAFC players.

In the heat of the moment, Inter Miami’s star striker Luis Suárez appeared to have attempted to bite his teammate, Jordi Alba, mistaking him for someone else. Suárez was seen to have felt Alba’s hand on his upper chest and proceeded to nibble at it.

However, he quickly realised that the hand was of Jordi Alba and therefore proceeded to back off and get back into the scuffle.

The former Barça full-back, Jordi Alba, appeared to be in pain afterwards as he held his finger following the shocking incident.

Luis Suárez and his infamous affection towards bites

Luis Suárez and his infamous habit of biting have been well known amongst the football community, as it wasn’t the first time the Uruguayan striker was involved in such a shocking incident.

The first time the world witnessed Suarez’s unbelievable habit was back in 2010, when the legendary striker was suspended for nine games after having bitten PSV Eindhoven’s midfielder, Otman Bakkal.

The second incident did not come long after, as in 2013, while playing for Liverpool, Luis Suárez ended up biting Chelsea’s star defender, Branislav Ivanovic, on his arm, leading to a ten-game suspension.

However, the most infamous and controversial incident occurred during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, when Suarez bit Italian centre-back Giorgio Chiellini on his left shoulder, which appeared to have left a huge bite mark on Chiellini’s shoulder as well.

While Uruguayan no. 9 managed to control his nasty habit for almost 10 years, he appeared to have let it loose during the Copa América last summer, where he attempted to bite a Colombian player after Uruguay’s defeat in the semi-final, once again leading to widespread outrage and even shouts of permanently banning Suárez from professional football.
