Neymar Jr. is set to be back in action for Brazil after receiving his first call-up for the national team in over 18 months.

As per The Athletic, the CBF announced Brazil’s 23-man squad on Monday for the upcoming CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, scheduled to be played later this month.

To the fans’ delight, Neymar was named in the Seleção Canarinhos’ squad for the first time since October 2023, all due to his consistent performances since returning to Santos FC in January.

Neymar's return reignites Brazil’s hopes for the 2026 World Cup

Neymar's return to the Brazilian national team seemed inevitable considering the instability in the team that has been witnessed in recent times.

Brazil's poor performance in the 2024 Copa America was massive evidence of the fact that the team has been lacking a leader on and off the pitch since Thiago Silva’s retirement and Casemiro’s axing from the squad, alongside Neymar.

Former Brazilian national team players such as Ronaldo and Cafu had also pointed out this issue, even stating that the Seleção Canarinhos are a shadow of their former selves as they lack leadership and flair.

The two legends even urged the CBF to recall Neymar, as they stated that he is the only one who could revive the Brazilian magic in the squad.

Goalkeepers: Alisson Becker, Bento, Ederson.

Midfielders: André, Bruno Guimarães, Gerson, Matheus Cunha, Neymar, Lucas Paquetá, Raphinha, Estêvão.
